As cinzas vulcânicas da erupção nas Canárias devem chegar depois-de-amanhã a Portugal. A lava continua a descer em direção ao mar e a deixar um rasto de destruição. Uma portuguesa teve mesmo de abandonar a casa, que estava no trajeto da lava.

Novo evento explosivo no Etna
Após pouco mais de três semanas de acalmia, na manhã de ontem, dia 21 de setembro, o vulcão Etna voltou a produzir um violento episódio de fontes de lava, conhecido como paroxismo, a partir da cratera SE.
Às 04:20 (hora local), o tremor vulcânico começou a aumentar repentinamente e, pelas 08:15, começou-se a observar a emissão de cinzas a partir da cratera Nova SE. Pelas 08:55 iniciou-se a atividade explosiva de estilo estromboliano, gerando uma pluma de cinzas que rapidamente subiu para 4.500 metros de altitude. Esta atividade continuou a intensificar-se, e por volta das 09:55 formaram-se fontes de lava que originaram uma coluna de cinzas que atingiu aproximadamente 9.000 m de altura e que derivou para ENE. Pelas 08:50, a amplitude média do tremor vulcânico atingiu valores baixos e semelhantes ao período pré-eruptivo. Formou-se uma escoada lávica que progrediu para sudoeste e que foi canalizada por entre o Monte Barbagallo e e Monte Frumento Supino.
Pelas 15:59 (hora local), o Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia​ (INGV) emitiu um comunicado a dar por terminado o evento eruptivo, com base na análise das imagens das câmaras de videovigilância e por observação direta de uma equipa do INGV que se deslocou ao cume.
