RIP Mick Abrahams, fantastic blues rock guitar player, songwriter and singer. Abrahams was part of the original lineup of Jethro Tull that released their 1968 debut album This Was. Here is a track from that album, a traditional song arranged by Abrahams:
After leaving Jethro Tull, Abrahams found Blodwyn Pig, a great band that blended blues rock and jazz. Here is the track San Francisco Sketches, from their album Getting To This, released in 1970.
After two albums with Blodwyn Pig Abrahams went solo, releasing the album Mick Abrahams: A Musical Evening With The Mick Abrahams Band in 1971. There are wonderful jams on this album, and the best of them are on the track Seasons. Excellent drumming here by Ritchie Dharma (namesake of Tull’s Dharma for One), who later played with Lou Reed on Transformer and other albums.
