The book launch for the English translation of Adelaide Freitas’s novel “Smiling in the Darkness” [original Portuguese title “Sorriso por dentro da Noite”] was held online on the evening of Tuesday, November 10, 2020. The work is translated by Katharine F. Baker, Bobby J. Chamberlain, Ph.D., Reinaldo F. Silva, Ph.D., and Emanuel Melo, and published by the Bellis Azorica book series of the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth’s Tagus Press.
The event was hosted by Diniz Borges, director of the Portuguese Beyond Borders Institute at Fresno State University in Fresno, California. Featured speakers were:
