A report from the Laboratório Regional de Engenharia Civil (LREC) recommends that road access to Ferraria remain closed following the rockslide that occurred on September 15.
The area shows a high susceptibility to geomorphological instability, meaning it is at serious risk of future landslides or rockfalls.
The laboratory’s technical assessment calls for a continued ban on vehicle traffic along the access road to Ferraria and advises that additional studies and surveys be carried out. These would help identify any existing discontinuities or structural weaknesses in the rock formation that could lead to further collapses.
