May be an image of castle and nature
Looking more like an abandoned fortress from Medieval France, this is actually the ancient ruins of Montfort Castle.
Also known as Qal’at al Qarn, it was built in 1228 by the Teutonic Order.
-We know them today as the Crusaders.
Located in Upper Galilee in northern Israel, Monfort was originally an administrative post, but by the Third Crusades (and under pressure from the Templars), the castle was used as a military post.
The castle came under siege by Moslem forces several times over the next 50 years and eventually fell for the last time in 1271.
The moslem Mamlek forces destroyed the fortress over a period of 12 days.
This is all that remains.
