On a personal note: I didn’t know that Ribeira Grande and East Providence were sister cities! I grew up in EP for the first 5 years of my life. My Azorean emigrant great-grandparents moved there from Fox Point in the 1920s with their children, including my grandfather. They all lived there until they passed away.
