“The progressive disappearance of time (subjective, simple past, imperfect, composite forms of the future, participates in the past… ) gives birth to a thought of the present, limited to the moment, unable to projections into time.
The generalization of tutoring, the disappearance of capitals and punctuation are both deadly blows to the subtlety of expression.
Deleting the word “miss” is not only giving up the aesthetics of a word, but also promoting the idea that there is nothing between a little girl and a woman.
Less words and less verbs combined are less ability to express emotions and less ability to form a thought.
Studies have shown that some of the violence in the public and private spheres comes directly from the inability to put into words about emotions.
Without words to build reasoning, the complex thought expensive to Edgar Morin is obstructed, made impossible.
The poorer the language, the less the thought exists.
History is rich in examples and the writings are many from Georges Orwell in 1984 at Ray Bradbury in Fahrenheit 451 who narrated how dictatorships of all obedience disrupted thought by reducing and twisting the number and meaning of the d it’s words.
There is no critical thinking without thinking. And there are no thoughts without words.
How to build a hypothetico-deductive thought without mastering the conditional? How to plan the future without conjugation to the future? How to perceive a temporary, a succession of elements in time, past or future, and their relative duration, without a language that distinguishes between what could have been, what was, what is, what can be t future, and what’s next what could come has happened? If a rally cry was to be heard today, it would be it, addressed to parents and teachers: let your children, your students, your students, and write.
Teach and practice the language in its most diverse forms, even if it seems complicated, especially if it is complicated. Because in that effort lies freedom. Those who explain over time that the spelling must be simplified, purge the language of its “flaws”, abolish genres, times, nuances, everything that creates complexity are the traps of the human mind. There is no freedom without requirements. There is no beauty without the thought of beauty.”
