  I was in the military at that time in Africa and Putin is only two years older than me. He would have been about 22 or 25, so quite likely.

    John Wynne Hopkins I am afraid not, he was in university in Russia studying law he only joined the KGB in 1975.

    Shaun Ryan It is interesting as the story was originally in the Tanzanian Times apparently. His bio says he was working for the East Germans during those years, and we know the East Germans were training in Africa, so what do you believe. Trying to get to the bottom of this.

  Putin is said to have been born in 17 October 1952, he must 66 years old now..I was wondering when was this picture taken. By the look things from this picture there isnt much age gap between him and Samora Machelle..who was born in 1933.

    Pk Zee not true ….Samora died in 1986.Putin worked as a KGB foreign intelligence officer for 16 years, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel, before resigning in 1991 to begin a political career in Saint Petersburg. The possibilities are there .
