Aterramos. Segue-se a correria até às malas, passadeiras rolantes num corredor interminável. Há que manter o momento linear para facilitar a gestão das crianças.
Tapete 1, verificamos no monitor. O último. Ajudo uma senhora a desengatar o carrinho e tiro um para albergar as três malas que trouxemos. O tapete combina malas de dois voos, de diferentes proveniências: Gatwick e Lajes, lado a lado.
Assim que me aproximo vejo um sapato alto preto perdido no topo da passadeira das malas. Pego no telemóvel, qual máquina fotográfica para o instantâneo diário visual.
Entre o enquadramento e o olhar, um senhor inglês de idade avançada e propício sentido humor, arrisca uma tirada sobre o tema:
— Someone left a shoe… (procurou algo na memória que não se revelou atempadamente)
— Cinderella, disse eu.
— Imagine it’d be from an old lady!
Rimos. A imaginar essa fatalidade de destino, de pertencer a alguém enrugado pela vida, em vez de uma jovem moça.
Olha-me com um sorriso largo e finaliza.
— Not everyone would get this, diz aliviado.
Tirou duas malas com uma cinta arco íris, a dele e a da mulher, e continua:
— I shall take these two and leave the old ones behind.
Um homem espirituoso logo à chegada.
Como é bom viajar e colecionar histórias.
O sapato lá ficou. Pode ser que sirva à pessoa certa.

Caras e caros amigo

Tomo a liberdade de vos enviar, em anexo, aquele que é definitivamente o meu último ato cénico na pele de Manuel de Arriaga, patrono da minha escola.
Entretanto cortei o cabelo e a barba e estou visivelmente mais novo. Mas já sei a cara que terei quando for velho…

Curtis & Leroy bought a mule for $100. The farmer agreed to deliver the mule the next day. The next morning the farmer drove up and said, “Sorry, fellows, I have some bad news, the mule died last night.”
Curtis & Leroy replied,”Well, then just give us our money back.” The farmer said,”Can’t do that. I went and spent it already.” They said, “OK then, just bring us the dead mule.” The farmer asked, “What in the world ya’ll gonna do with a dead mule?” Curtis said, “We gonna raffle him off.”

The farmer said, “You can’t raffle off a dead mule!” Leroy said, “We shore can! We don’t hafta tell nobody he’s dead!” A couple of weeks later, the farmer ran into Curtis & Leroy at the Piggly Wiggly grocery store and asked. “What’d you fellers ever do with that dead mule?”

They said,”We raffled him off like we said we wuz gonna do.” Leroy said,”We sold 500 tickets fer two dollars apiece and made a profit of $898.” The farmer said, “Didn’t anyone complain?” Curtis said, “Well, the feller who won got upset. So we gave him his two dollars back.”

Curtis and Leroy now work for the government. They’re overseeing the Bailout & Stimulus Programs
