There’s a growing number of people who seem to think the world is, in fact, flat. But it gets better. They also insist that Australia is actually just one big hoax. According to a viral Faceb…
There’s never any fun event to go to. Camel races, for example, are extremely boring.
There are four major groups departing Australia.
The number of citizens leaving annually has ranged from 80,000 to 100,000 over the last 10 years. The number of Australian citizens returning home over that same period has ranged between 72,000 to 81,000 each year.
There is no concerns here because a large number of Australia n citizens are born overseas and have families in their original countries. There are many reason behind the departure of an Australian Citizen and not returning for a long time. For example having old parents overseas who are in need of care.
Recent changes in Migration law and occupation list (for migration purposes) made it a little more difficult for overseas workers to be sponsored by Australian employers. The government is trying to keep Australian voters happy this way and telling them that they have prevent them loosing their jobs by keeping foreigner workers out!Because of the recent changes, many people who arrived to Australia on Employer sponsored visas could not extend their stay simply because their occupation was removed from the related list. To prevent the risk of becoming unlawful and being banned, they have no other choice to depart and find another way to apply for Australian Visas.
- International students:
Many people think that International students dream about coming to Australia and stay here for ever. It is simply a misconception. It is hard for many international students to leave their family, home country, their culture and all their friends behind. They do so because they want the quality of education that Australian universities provide and when they finish their studies they return to their home country. Many of them are able to secure better jobs because of having an Australian degree of qualification.
- Foreign backpackers:
More 210,000 working holiday visas were granted in the last financial year which is lower than past years due to the increase in the visa application fees. The majority of backpackers travel to Australia to make as much money as they can before they go home. If they can’t make it here, they’ll probably go to any other country where they can get a working holiday visa at a reasonable cost.
On the other hand, backpackers are the primary source of labour for farmers and the recent drought reduced the work for them. Less work, less incentive.
- Extra point:
In my view, the number of departures has not increased to the stage of being a concern. The issue here is that due to the changes the government made, increasing the processing times, making in harder to get visas in the name of ensuring the integrity of immigration system, the number of arrivals is way lower than previous years. What actually is happening here is that the ratio of departure to arrival has experienced an unbalanced year making it look like that people are leaving Australia in record numbers. There is no doubt that the number of departures has increased. But the increase is a natural one. What is changed is the drop in arrivals which makes the statistic unnatural in comparison to other years.
