John Fullerton MacArthur Jr. (born June 19, 1939) is an American pastor and author, known for his internationally syndicated Christian teaching radio show Grace to You. He is the pastor and master of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California since February 9, 1969 and is currently also the president of The Master’s University in Newhall, California and The Master’s Seminary at Los Angeles, California.
Theologically, MacArthur is considered a Calvinist, and a strong advocate of expositive preaching. He has been recognized by Christianity Today as one of the most influential preachers of his time, and has been a frequent guest on Larry King Live as a representative of an evangelical Christian perspective.
MacArthur has written or edited more than 150 books, of which the MacArthur Studio Bible has been highlighted, of which more than 1 million copies have been sold and received a Gold Medallion Book Award. He is also the author of other best-sellers such as the New Testament MacArthur Comment or Twelve Men: Common and Currents.
