Selfies make you less likable

Study: Selfies are perceived far more negatively than ‘posies’.

A recent study examined how people perceived others based on their Instagram accounts and whether those perceptions matched up with the posters’ actual personalities. One surprising finding was that posters were perceived in wildly different ways depending on how many selfies they took.

Posters who took more “posies” — i.e., photos of the poster taken by another person — were rated as being higher in self-esteem, more adventurous, less lonely, more outgoing, more dependable, relatively fond of trying new things, more successful, more likeable, and a potential good friend. Selfie-posters tended to be rated the opposite
