MORE VIOLENCE IN PAPUA

Today 600 Indonesian soldiers including “combat engineers” arrived in West Papua to “secure” the Indonesian government’s controversial road building project.

Radio New Zealand reports: – As the numbers of casualties and displaced people in Papua’s Highlands pile up, prospects for an end to armed conflict in the Indonesian-ruled region appear dim.

Humanitarian concern is growing for villagers who have been displaced by conflict in the Highlands between Indonesia’s military and the West Papua Liberation Army.
